Lead (Proof of Concept)
Lonnie
Frenzied energy · Hired shooter · The Child Under the Bravado
“He starts cocky. He ends broken.”
The proof-of-concept short lives with Lonnie: a teenager paid $2,000 to shoot up a funeral, kidnapped into a basement of horrors, and killed slowly by men who call it justice.
Psychological profile
Lonnie performs menace because the neighborhood pays for menace. Underneath is a scared, quick-thinking kid who fights harder to survive than anyone in the film.
Wants
The money, then just the morning. By the end he only wants someone to know he didn't want this.
Fears
That everyone was right about him.
Performance notes
- 01
The audience should fear for Lonnie even after learning what he did.
- 02
Play the bravado thin — it should crack visibly in the basement.
- 03
His death scene must be underplayed. No opera.
